Paul Gilbert, M.D. has
practiced adult and child psychiatry in Marin County,
California for over thirty years. He is board certified in both general and child
psychiatry, and is a graduate and member of the faculty of the San Francisco
Psychoanalytic Institute. His areas of interest include integration
of psychotherapy and biological approaches, and their application to psychiatric
disorders. Included are psychosocial and biological perspectives on the use of
psychotropic medications wish disorders such as depression, bipolar
illness, attention deficit, and learning disabilities. Dr. Gilbert
teaches at the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute and the University of
California at San Francisco where he conducts the
weekly seminar for child and adolescent psychiatry residents and child psychiatry
fellows on child and adolescent development. He
has most recently consulted to the Marin Country Day School and the Branson
School, both in Marin County, California, addressing issues of normal and
abnormal child and adolescent development.
Dr. Gilbert brings to the Center an interest in the integration of different modalities of treatment
and their application in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Gilbert works collaboratively with with our Center directors and associates
in their quest to fashion practical and effective integrations of individual, family,
group, educational, and drug therapy.
