Diane H. Engelman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health treatment, assessment, and consultation. She is trained in neuropsychology and currently specializes in neuropsychological and personality (psychological) assessment using a collaborative method of individualized therapeutic assessment. This approach incorporates the client -- adult, child, adolescent,or couple -- as a full partner in the assessment process and strives to clarify the client’s unique needs. For many years Dr. Engelman has also provided psychotherapy for adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families.
Dr. Engelman's other areas of focus include mother-infant and general parenting concerns and psychological aspects of medical illness, including bereavement. Her experience encompasses counseling individuals and families faced with acute or chronic illness, as well as dealing with loss and grief due to death, divorce, or life change. She is co-founder of Valley of the Moon Hospice in Sonoma, California, and consulted to that organization for twenty years.
She received a master's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, then a doctorate in psychology from the California Graduate School of Family Psychology. She has completed a two-year intensive postdoctoral training program in clinical neuropsychology.
Dr. Engelman is co-director of the Center for Collaborative Psychology and Psychiatry in Marin County, California. She also speaks and teaches for numerous professional and lay organizations.
